"From Speaking Circles, I transformed my terror of speaking. I now joyfully and powerfully express my essence with confidence, courage, and connection. Yes, I go into a Speaking Circle with nervousness, but I leave feeling extremely grounded, 'full' and nourished. This carries to my everyday life, whether on the phone or in person with everyone I meet. Every Speaking Circle I attend 'refuels' me!" Maria Carter, Author" Fall In Love With Your Life"
"What a positive difference my practice at Speaking Circles has made in my teaching and training of Park Ranger Recruits! Thank you for providing a space to transform my fear and nervousness into relaxation" Kendall Roper |
At a Speaking Circle® . . .. . . you are provided all the support you need to express yourself in your own time and in your own unique way, without fear or discomfort. Some call this depth of expression, "speaking from the heart," "the authentic self" or "your real voice." Whatever you call it, you know when you are there; you know when someone else is there; and you know how rare it is. And it happens in every Speaking Circle. See Speaking Circle Schedule

Bay Area. What allows it to happen?Everyone else in the room is guided to attune their listening to serve you, without expectation or judgment. They do not analyze your process, or comment on your content, even at the break or after the Circle. You are asked only to fully explore being with the individuals who make up the group, one at a time. You may even remain in complete silence as you learn to enjoy being your true self in front of an audience. This elegant process consists simply of exploring being with a supportive team, one person at a time, for finite periods - usually 3 minutes and 5 minutes. In tens of thousands of Speaking Circles, we have found that whatever separates a person from his or her listeners dissolves naturally, including stage fright and other types of performance anxiety. You may be drawn to Speaking Circles for many reasons - to become a more magnetic speaker, a more passionate leader, or simply to be your most comfortable, authentic self in group situations. Tapping into new wellsprings of power, you develop the ability to fully express yourself, freely and joyously. Then you have the tools needed to get in touch with the available support from peers, friends and audiences in the "real world." This allows you to speak with ease, electricity and impact, without anxiety or over-preparation, any time, anywhere. Thousands have transformed their relationships with groups forever. How does it work? The Facilitator opens with a few minutes to demonstrate and discuss the nature of the work. Guidelines for absolute safety are laid down and any questions answered. Each person gets a chance to stand in front of the group for three minutes (first time participants go last) to be the center of attention and "check in." This may involve being silent and receiving the support of the group, rather than any priority on having to speak. After this three-minute round, each person, in the same order, gets five minutes to follow any thread or theme, or remain silent, with the priority always on easily being with one person at a time. This five minutes is followed by positive feedback led by the Facilitator. This feedback, and the three and five minute turns, are recorded on a personal videotape given to the participant for private viewing. Some results: * Speak with ease, clarity and power. See Speaking
